Proverbs 3:1-6

Proverbs 3:1-6 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 3Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (KJV).

Reflection

Verse three in the Christian Community Bible reads, "Let loyalty and kindness never leave you; tie them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart." One gets the picture of a pendant or a necklace of kindness and loyalty.

A striking pendant or necklace can bring out the beauty in clothing. Beautiful pendants and necklaces accent a person's beauty too. When the light hits a pendant from just the right angle, a pendant can look very striking. So striking it is hard to take one's eyes off it.

Kindness and loyalty can be worn as a pendant, a beautiful jewel. When kindness and loyalty are very visible in our lives, we find favor in the eyes of God and people.

The most beautiful people I know are not handsome 20 year old men or gorgeous 20 year old women. They are beautiful elderly people. What makes them so beautiful is the way they wear kindness. You can see kindness in their eyes and in their smiles. You can hear kindness in their voices. The beauty of their kindness makes them stand out in a crowd.

God is calling us to wear stunning pendants of love and loyalty. When we wear kindness and loyalty, we will leave people with a sense that they have been in the presence of God.
