Proverbs 16:31-33 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness. 32He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. 33The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD (KJV).
Reflection
"Hoary head" is not a term generally used in the twenty-first century. Contemporary translations may state that "gray hair" is a crown of glory.
The gay community is obsessed with beauty and youth. If this proverb were being written for the gay community, verse 31 might be repeated several times, just so the gay community would get the message.
Age is an honor. We need to treasure, honor, and respect older members of our community. Many gay senior citizens fought for the rights we take for granted. Gay seniors may have fought in the battles to obtain basic human rights for gay and bisexual people. They can be respected in the same way one would respect vetrans. Not only should young gay people respect and honor older gay people, gay seniors can respect themselves.
