There are times when activists who labor for equality and social justice have to be tough, resorting to civil disobedience. At times those who are pressing for social change are rude. The tone of some well-meaning activists’ letters and comments alienate the very political leaders who they need on their side. Wise activists understand there are times when persuasion and gentle pressure works much better to win the favor of political leaders.
