Memorials to Those We've Lost

Over the years, many gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans-identified people have died violent deaths. An Advocate article describes a tribute popular gay You Tuber Davey Wavey created to the lives of some people who took their lives. Two hundred and fifty balloons were blown-up. The name of a person who died was written on each balloon. The balloons were released and were videoed as they drifted up and away. The article and a video of Davey Wavey's tribute can be seen on the Advocate site.

Memorials to a few of the people we've lost appear below:

Jadon Higganbothan - age 4 or 5.

Jamey Rodemeyer - died September 2010, age 14.

Gary Matson and Winfield Mowder - died July 1, 1999.

We encourage anybody contemplating suicide to get assistance. Do not fight through your feelings alone. You are not alone. There are people who care and who can help. Talk to somebody. Tell somebody how you feel. Discuss how you feel with a trusted friend of family member. Dial 911 or your local emergency phone number. Call the hospital or the police, talk to your physician, or get an appointment to talk to a counsellor.
