Devotional books tend to be a dime a dozen. With so many devotional books on the market, people may wonder why this book is worth reading.

Daily devotional books tend to be written by conservative Christians and published by conservative Christian publishers, which are not very affirming. Many gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans-identified people have experienced spiritual abuse and trauma. They have been rejected, condemned, and damned. As a result of spiritual abuse, some queer Christians are reluctant to read religious books, even if those books could be a real blessing. The fear level is just too high.

The publisher has published numerous books by queer Christians. A queer Christian can pick up this book and feel safe, enjoy a heart-touching devotional, without worrying about what condemnation might appear in the next devotional. God is much more easily able to speak to hearts when there is no fear.

The devotions are well-written. This book is a good choice for a Christmas gift, for yourself or for somebody else.
