Psalm 134 (King James Version)

1Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.
2Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.
3The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.

Reflection

There is something really special about praising God in the solitude of night, when nobody is around. One is able to really focus in on praising God, without fear of interruption, without the day sounds of business or commerce taking away from the moment.

There are a couple of different meanings one can draw from this psalm. First, those who serve the Lord when all is quiet, when nobody notices are blessed by God. They might not get the praise from humans, but they get God's praise. The Lord blesses those who bless Him. And that is especially true for those who bless the Lord at night. Second, there are times when our lives feel like they are dark, void of the wonderful things that seem to bring joy to others. During those night periods of our lives, when things are not going well, there is still a call to be faithful servants of the Lord. Those who continue to bless the Lord during the dark periods of life are blessed by God.
