The Family Worshipper's 23rd Psalm

Introduction: Some people try to make it look like gay people are against the family and are out to ruin the family. That is not true. Gay people have families and are parts of families. Gay people have nothing to gain by divorce, family breakdown, family violence or family abuse. Those problems hurt all individuals within a family and all of society.

Some Christians elevate the family to the point of God. They worship the family unit, as if it were God. The family is made into God when the the family is held up as the cure to all societal problems. While families are valuable, families are not God. The family does not cure society. Salvation does not come from the family. Only God saves, healings, solves problems and can cure society's problems.

Focus on the family is a sin. Focus on the family is idol worship. Focus on God is sacred worship. Only God is worthy of our worship.

The Family Worshipper's 23rd Psalm is not a put-down of the Bible. The Word of God is to be respected. The Psalm is a humorous attempt to help those who have been placing their focus and their hope on a unit of society and not on God to regain their spiritual focus.

The Family is My Shepherd

The Family is my god; I shall not want.

The Family maketh me to lie down in dysfunctional pastures; it leadeth me beside the waters of divorce.

The Family killeth my soul; it leadeth me in paths of desperation for its name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of domestic violence and domestic sexual abuse, I will fear no evil; for thou are with me; thy rod and thy staff they beat me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with curses: my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and blessings shall follow me all of the days of my married life: and I will dwell in the house of the Family for ever.
